The expenses of keeping trailer if you disregard the expenses associated with the tow vehicle are undoubtedly lower than a motorhome. If one would otherwise have the tow vehicle for other purposes, that's a perfectly reasonable comparison to make.
If the tow vehicle is an additional vehicle that one wouldn't have aside from the RV, then I suspect the expenses of at least a class C motorhome might be a little lower than the tow vehicle plus trailer expenses in many cases. Variations in tax laws and insurance costs could make a big difference from area to area, though.
That's a good point. I don't have a toad, but I may be in the minority in that regard (at least on these forums--my informal surveys of motorhomes I see on the road when driving usually end up being about half toadless and half toaded).
Sometimes you don't always see the Toad, as it isn't towed, it is carried!!
