Not sure how to ask this, but when you all are rv'ing, do most people want other rv'ers to be nice and start conversations at the campground or do they usually want to be left alone. I've been to campgrounds where everyone seems to be so nice and social, but then to others where your afraid to say hello to some. Any advice?

Can only speak for myself but we enjoy meeting people.I think it depends a lot on the kind of place you are camping.We usually stay at state parks or corps of engineer campgrounds and most people are very friendly.We always try and wave and speak, I think you just have to play it from there to see how people react.We try very hard not to be standoffish or overly friendly, again it is something you just have to feel.

We have found most everyone while out camping to be nice with differing degrees of social interaction. We will tend to keep to ourselves but do a lot of waving while walking around.

We play it by ear and go with the flow. Generally, most people are content when RVing and tend to be a friendly bunch. It really depends on your closest camping neighbors, some like to keep to themselves while others are more outgoing in terms of getting to know their fellow campers. Either way we are pretty flexible and enjoy ourselves whether it is just a friendly wave or actually spending some time getting acquainted.

We watch the chair position at each site. If the people there are facing the street and return your wave, they are usually wiling to chat. If they keep their chairs or picnic table facing away from the street, we leave them alone unless invited. Most are friendly.Personally I have had more social contact and interaction in a month than I did in a year at my regular house.

Here's my observations regarding social aspect in any situation.My DW and I are opposites when it comes to being around unknown people like in a campground. She is the type of person that starts conversations with anyone. She always has a smile and an "open" demeanor so people gravitate towards her. It's amazing to watch. We will be in a store or at a restaurant or in a campground and within minutes she will be in conversation with people to the point where folks will hug her before they walk away.I on the other hand tend to go about my business have a "closed" demeanor and acknowledge others but not try to start a conversation. If I choose to be friendly I can, all it takes is a smile and a comment about something the other person is doing, wearing or something they have... "Nice Motorhome"In campgrounds it doesn't take long to build friendships, common interest in RVing is the ice breaker and it takes off from there.Thanks mostly to my DW we have many long time friendships that began in a campground. It seems each time we go camping we end up with more friends...
