Dinnerware for RVing

We are new to long-term RVing, and would like to see what dinnerware (plates, bowls, etc) are the best to use indoor/outdoor. I was thinking of melamine plates, although after research it doesn't seem the "safest" to use. I would like something microwave/oven safe. Thanks for any suggestions!
  • Corelle for fancy or most of the time we use Chinet paper plates and bowls plus the paper boats like french fries come in. We get the 3lb sized boats.
  • We have dusty pink Rubbermaid melamine... they were in my husband's family camper when he was growing up :)

But yes if you don't want melamine I'd go for Corelle.
  • Another vote for Corelle. Relatively light, nest well and do not stain like melamine. For coffee mugs, I like the old Tupperware with the lids.

    Norm
  • When we FTd we used Corelle bowls/plates, mugs for hot beverages and plastic tumblers for cold beverages.

And we also had a Noritake China full 8 place setting.......plates, bowls, cups, saucers, gravy bowl, creamer etc. (I had purchased for Mom in Hong Kong. Took it back after her passing) It was in the glass front cabinet in our 5vr kitchen.

All items traveled well....and only 1 plate got broke (by me dropping on concrete pad)
We cut rubber shelf liner and placed between plates/bowls

Pick what you want to use......it isn't all that different then S&B
  • Corelle from Walmart. Open stock. You can buy what you want. We have 4 plates, 4 bowls. That's all we need. We use coffee mugs rather than the Corelle cups and saucers.
  • We have Corelle, purchased from Wall Mart.

Plates, cups, saucers, bowls (4 each)... there's only 2 of us, if we have more people, use we our Corellewear, they get the paper.

Corelle does not break, is microwaveable, packs nice, looks nice, and is real dinnerware.

Here's a link to Wall Mart: Wall Mart Corelle Dinnerware sets

Here's the set we have. After 4 years, it still looks nice: Our set.
  • Generally we just use paper plates but a nice steak on a paper plate just doesn't cut it. We use Corelle dishes which are porcelain? but break resistant. Haven't broken one yet in 15 years of RVing.
