Dinnerware for RVing

Set of 8 square plastic plates and bowls from Big Lots. Each is different color, it's my Poor Mans Fiestaware. Mom had a set of 6 place settings silverware so I think of her when I use it.
I never use plastic anything in microwave so I have an old glass casserole without the lid to reheat and make oatmeal. I need to get a smaller size too. Drinking glasses and coffee cups are unbreakable.

Forgot to include there are only two of us living in our house now and we had enough silverware to just put some in the RV. I did buy things like spatulas large serving spoons etc for the RV. I also have a glass mug for my coffee, my husband uses a thermal DD coffee mug. Recently when camping without water hookups we tried paper hot cups for coffee and its weird but I have found they keep the coffee hotter than the glass mug.We also have two plastic glasses that we use for water but find many times that the large plastic red cups work better. We also have plastic wine glasses and husband use a plastic beer glass. I have had good luck finding plastic stuff at the beginning of the season in places like Home Goods, Marshalls or TJ Maxx.

Hi, We started out with plastic and paper. We use paper if we are in a campground with no water such as places we stop in the winter when we are traveling to Florida or are staying in National or state parks with no water hookups. A few years ago I bought a couple of Corelle bowls and dishes. They serve our purpose in that they are lightweight and easy to clean. On one of our trips last year we were bumping along some bumpy potholed highway and when we went into the camper the cabinet door where we store the dishes was open and our Corelle had fallen onto the floor and shattered into hundreds of pieces. I replaced it with more Corelle as I like that you can buy just the pieces you need not a whole set and that they are lightweight and easy to clean.Plus they are reasonably priced so if they do break its not a big loss.

Paper while boondocking or dry camping. Save the limited water supply. With FHU, or a water supply, we use Corelle to save money.

Corelle as a gift from a friend when we got our TT. However we usually put a paper plate on top of the plates this makes cleaning easier and then the paper goes into the garbage or is burned. DW insists on a real glass for her tea, me I just use a plastic drinking cup.

We started with melamine. Do not do it! They melt and we did not like using them. We went to Corelle and we love those dished. We take shelf paper and cut a small piece to put between each plate so they do not rattle and hit each other while in the cabinet when we are traveling.

Wife, when she was alive, liked Plastic, I like Corelle

I think I broke ONE Corelle saucer. .that's all. Not easy to do.

Several plastic plates have failed due to age.

Use paper plates a lot of the time but do like to use nice plates too. Found a pretty set of melamine dishes at a TJ Max Home Store in a picnic display. Also a set of matching non breakable glasses. Have since seen these same plates at other TJ Max and Big Lots Stores.
