I use Corelle and put a paper plate between each Corelle plate. Never broke one yet. For coffee cups and glasses, I hit the dumpster at the local grocery. Everything they stock that's breakable comes in a box with cardboard dividers. Grab a few and cut them down so they aren't any higher than what you're storing. The sticky shelf liner stuff keeps everything from sliding around.
