Store them like others have said, but also be sure to double check the cabinet doors before you hit the road. Make sure they are fully latched/closed.
The only time I broke dishes was when I hadn't fully closed a cabinet door, and hadn't checked the doors before we hit the road. Stuff shifted and fell out and shattered all over the counters and floor.
