I suspect it depends on the sorts of roads you drive, and the suspension of your trailer. I can't really comment on dishes (we use titanium dishware made for backpacking - the trailer is mostly used as a basecamp for hiking, backpacking, and kayaking trips) but had some ceramic coffee mugs that we got as a gift in the trailer for a while, until one broke while going back a rough dirt road (my minivan does not get treated gently). They'd probably been in there for two years before breaking though. Corelle is pretty tough stuff, so I'd not worry too much. Suggestion: Don't put heavier items on top of the plates.
