Do I have to take the dealer's word on the MSRP?

They will gladly tell you outright, or include in an ad the MSRP, but how do I know it's an accurate number? If I negotiate 35% off what I think is the MSRP, it's meaningless unless I know for certai...

You don't have to and shouldn't necessarily take the dealers word on anything.

Now I am not saying all dealers stretch the truth, embellish or even delete information, but I would do as much homework as I can on both $ value and the unit itself.
