I am researching a 4 month plus Alaska trip with a bit of the Pacific NW thrown in. Very few absolute set dates other than picking up our daughter in Fairbanks & dropping her off 3 weeks later in Anchorage.
Everything else is subject to weather & anything else unknown that might come our way. This year I am finding that county fairgrounds are almost always a good option. They are usually nothing fancy but unless there is a big weekend event going on, there is always room. A better option than a Walmart if you get stuck for a couple of nights. Always have a plan B, even a plan C ready to go if plan A falls through.
Been at this 11 years now doing about 150 nights out each year. This year searching for more little known CGs I have been using AllStays. Lots of town parks, county parks & such not listed on sites like RVPRs. Almost always had good luck with those.
