Wouldn't buy one without an awning. Provides shade from the sun, shelter from the rain so you can still eat/cook outside, and provides hubby with something to whack his head on and complain about! :B Seriously, I can't see being without one. We used to camp at the beach where the sites were treeless. Being the pasty white Yankee I am it's an absolute necessity. If you are on a wooded site it also keeps stuff from trees (and birds!) from dropping on to your table and chairs.
