drinking water

On a similar note, we stayed in a cabin in the Gatlinburg area this past weekend. The cabin was on well water, but the water stunk. One reason why we do not trust any water wherever we go, for drinking. We have well water as well, but it doesn't smell like it did there. Even previous stayers mentioned the stinky water in the log at the cabin.

Frequently allowing your potable water tank to empty completely, and occasionally sanitizing it will keep bacteria levels down. Filling your tank with city water actually helps sanitize it due to the treatment that the cities are required to give potable water. That being said, I personally do not use hook-up or tank water for drinking. We always carry an ample supply of filtered water from our house in empty gallon orange juice containers. IMHO you can't make a good pot of coffee with tank or hook up water.

Conversely, if you find bottled water conveinient and like it's taste versus any number of other sources, that does not neccesarily make you a germophobe.

Now now, don't start trying to inject logic and reason into a perfectly good debate! What are you going to do next, go to Washington and fix the budget! :D

Sure, bugs are bad and you should wash your hands after you go to the bathroom, but if you are properly caring for your water system with routine sterilizations and filling it with chlorinated water, please tell me what the elevated risk is?

The cysts that cause Cryptosporidiosis are in feces (poop). Maybe you are drinking from the wrong tank. :B

A filter rated at one micron or less will remove the cysts.
