Yes, you can tow 1,600 pounds. I suggest for safety that you have a trailer with brakes.

I tow with my little Pontiac. It has a rating of 1,500# in the USA but a rating of 2,200# in the UK if the trailer has brakes.

My Aliner weighs just under 2,000# fully loaded and I have towed it about 20,000 miles now with no trouble.
