I'm new to RVing and am looking into the possibility of dumping the tanks at home. Our house is maybe 3 feet above the street. There is one port to the sewer near the street with a loose plastic cap. There is another up at the house with a cap clamped on. Would either of these work? (30 year old CA house.) The RV drive is on the far side of the house so the only gravity assist method would be to back in an run a hose/ pipe across the front of the house to the port. However, the distance would be almost 35 feet. Slope of the pipe to the upper port would be about 12 inches in 35 feet. Is that enough? Slope to the lower port would be much greater but the run would be a little longer. Would the standard flexible sewer hose be the best choice or would a solid tube be easier to clean completely? I would prefer not to have a stinky hose/ pipe laying around.

soounds like more work than worth it, and the city won,t like you doing this, find a local dump station, most city,s have a dump station for free , I live in a town with about 3k people ,we have two free ones.

I would be concerned about the legality of it especially in CA (no offence). I may be way off base but I think it's illegal in WI to dump raw sewage anywhere other than a certified place. Like I said, though, I may be way off base.

I dump at home with a macerater into our septic tank when we tailgate or dry camp rather than stop. 60' uphill. If I had clean out I would use it but it indeed may be against some city ordinance. It's sewage going into a sewage system so it won't hurt but most places charge for sewer so the would consider it a theft.

You have your own septic tank. The OP wants to put it in a storm drain/curb drain.

I have a sewer clean out at the base of my driveway, I dump and flush all the time at home.. If I dump at the camp ground I just do 1 rinse, and get on my way, after I get home I fill and flush at least twice before storing the trailer.
Make it nice not to have to worry about it.

My sanitary sewer runs alongside my driveway. At most I'd need a 5 foot hose to drain my tanks. I have the stuff not so far, not the time, to put a sewage dump in it. Putting your sewage into a storm drain is illegal for sure. Storm drains aren't treated most of the time so you'd be dumping raw sewage into the waterways. Even if you weren't in Kalifornia, the EPA would be all over you. Add in all the tree huggers out there, you'd probably be public enemy #1.

I just read the OP's post again. I am not familiar with these plastic drain caps he speaks of. Maybe he is not dumping into the curb sewer. Need more info...

From what I am reading, the OP is saying that he has a sewer clean-out, not a storm drain. When they put sewers in my area, I had them put a clean-out near the street and use it all the time to dump. It goes right into the sewer with the rest of the unmentionables from our house. It works fine, but I have it within 5' of the curb. Sounds like without a macerater it would be a chore for you.

1 foot in 35 feet is more than enough for sewer pipe slope. 1 in 50 is about as flat as you want to go with 4" pipe. I would hook it up and not worry about codes or macerater pumps.
