Feeling nervous but excited!

I'm so glad to have found this forum! My husband and I have just purchased a new class c RV, 2018 Forest River Forester 3011dsf. We will be going g to pick it up and drive it home next week and the dealer said to plan to spend about 3.5 - 4 hrs with one of their technicians who will show us how to operate everything. We are newbies and I''m worried I'm not going to know what questions to ask about how certain things in the rv work! If anyone has advice on something they think I might not even know to ask about, then by all means tell me! LOL. I'm getting a good list of questions together and reading through the forums has been extremely helpful. Thanks in advance for any help :)

  • Don't worry about operating your new RV. You will get a stack of manuals with more details than you will ever need. I do suggest taking a quick look at them. You might even find it fun to look at them.

What you do need to consider is making some check lists. You especially need a check list for steps needed when you break camp and start to move. For example I have an old style refrigerator and cabinet latches I need to check. Windows need to be shut, jacks up, kitchen items stowed, etc.
  • You will have so much fun with your new RV! AS previously stated, please video your orientation. Sounds like you have a very good dealer by the sounds of them spending half a day with you. That is a lot of information so the video will be a great resource. Also, there are many very helpful people on here with decades of experience, so don't hesitate to ask.
  • Do a video with your phone that you can play back later. It really isn't hard to operate anything with a coach. And, if you do have problems or don't know what to do there is a world full of friendly campers who are more than willing to help you. Enjoy!
  • It is really not hard at all. Just breath deeply and relax.
  • Congratulations!!

We have been doing it it in various forms since we were married 50 years ago.

Take lots of time with your indoctrination. You will probably miss a lot but that is where a forum like this is invaluable.

I'm old. I'm supposed to be old and wise. But I'm old enough and wise enough to take advantage of all the wisdom that exists on this forum.
