All I can tell you is what works/worked for us.
We started by talking about a pop-up. I said no, I grew up with one.
Then we talked about a TT. DW said no, she grew up with one.
Then we started looking at 5ers. When we priced a 5er and a new truck (we didn't have a truck at all), we decided we could buy a C or an A just as cheap and not have 2 vehicles to park.
I preferred the safety designs of the C cab better than the A, so we finally settled on a Class C. Then we started shopping. We finally found a floorplan that we loved. In the 7 years we have owned it, we have never, even once, seen a floor plan we like half as well.
For us, it is ideal. DW has a small bladder, so it is convenient that she can go to the potty without us having to stop. I keep the munchies, so it is convenient that DW can make sandwiches without us having to stop (since she doesn't drive it). We would not like a towable for those reasons.
Finally, since we like to tour and see the area, we tow a car. We started out with a tow dolly because the car we owned at the time could be towed on one. When we finally had to replace that car, we got one that could be towed 4 down and sold the dolly.
For us, it is the perfect set up.
Oh, we even have a
collapsible boat that we strap to the top of the car for those times when DW wants to get out ON the lake.
