People have simply made the statement they prefer to own their posessions outright than by making payments and paying interest, especially on a depreciating assett.
That is also a big lump of coal you threw out there stating people who pay cash are rich or blessed in some way, and throwing it in peoples faces. If that was the way you took it, you should look more closely at your personal shortcomings.
People choose to pay cash or finance for personal reasons, which you know none of their stories. And, as a matter of fact, most very rich people finance a large portion of their posessions.
It's all what is important to each person individually and how much, if any debt they prefer to be in. I took both of your posts as offensive and envious. And it doesn't look very pretty on either of you.

While I will agree that in this thread responses to the OP were remarkably civil, there have been plenty of threads like this before where all to often people have become quite judgmental of those who do anything other than pay cash. When worded in such a manner, I do consider it "throwing it in the OP's face". Maybe I jumped the shark a little in that respect, but I fully expected those type of posts to show up, which IS why many of us who finance don't contribute to these threads.
Additionally, I'm not sure why is it a "lump of coal" to say someone who can write a check for a 5 figure amount is blessed, regardless of "their story" Neither I nor anyone I personally know has been in that position, so I would say it is a blessing to be able to do so, regardless of the story. Perhaps one who takes offense to that is a little to prickly.
Sorry you were offended, context and intent does not always carry across the keyboard. Sometime it seems I can't even say a simple "good morning" without someone finding fault.
