"Are there many people on the road at that age that do a lot of traveling and boondocking?"
I don't know if there are many, but in my travels I have come across my fair share of retired policemen and firefighters that retired at a very early age. Don't know about other states, but in CA public safety employees can retire at a very young age with a Cadillac pension and benies.
