First Long Trip -- What are the "must dos" and "must haves"?

Against my better judgment, I'm pulling our 30' FW from LA to Dayton OH. We normally pull it on 2 hour round trips to the beach in/around California. So, how should I prepare for the trip? I welcome...

A long road trip is nothing more than a bunch of day trips. we are usually on the road by 7:30-8:00 am, off the road by 6:00 pm. Unless you are back roading it, the freeway has plenty fuel stops. The only thing I worry about fuel stops wise is "am I able to get in and out" with out backing up with jeep in tow 4 down.
