Plan your meals before you leave. For example, Monday breakfast, eggs, bacon, toast. Dinner, grilled salmon, baked potato, etc. This way you know exactly what you need to take. I prepare as much as possible at home so there is little to do while camping. For example. if we are having baked potato, I will bake at home and warm in microwave at CG. It does not have to be a ridged plan but it helps prevent over packing or forgetting something.
We use a lot of disposable items, paper plates, plastic ware, etc. Makes cleanup easy. Clothing is one area it is easy to over pack. Again, plan ahead what you plan to wear each day with one extra for just in case.
Most importantly, enjoy yourselves.
