First travel trailer help

Hello. I'm about to make my first RV purchase and need help. My TV is a 04 Suburban rated 7,200lb tow capacity. It will be my wife and I, and two kids ages 4 and 6. We've tent camped until now, but getting tired of all the setup and tear down time. Looking to stay under $25,000. Please give me your travel trailers recommendations that I can safely tow, and will be good quality. Thanks.

Certainly no more than 6000 lbs loaded and ready to camp which in turn means a mid size trailer weighing no more than 5000 lbs dry. You haven't provided any specifics about your '04 Suburban but I've been towing with GM's ubiquitous 5.3L V8 for 10 yrs and can say with confidence "Less is More". :B
  • Walk through as many trailers as you can. Go everywhere. Eventually something will click and you'll know when you see it.

If you want bunks don't waste time looking at anything else. Once you narrow it down, kick out the salesman and live in it for a half hour, try everything out. Lay on the bed, sit on the toilet, cook a meal, sit at the table, watch TV etc. Can you get to the toilet if the slide is pulled in, more important than you think.
  • Definitely get something with bunks for everyone. Setting up and taking down dinettes or couches every night gets real old, real quick.
  • i recommend a bunkhouse TT.

but what is the payload capacity of your Burb? it's on the driver's door yellow sticker.

EVERY brand has its fans and haters. there's NO substitute for YOU going and looking at different brands so that you and the DW decide what you think is quality.
quality is in the eye of the beholder.
