Fishing advice

Getting ready to begin our fulltiming lifestyle, and would love to do some fishing along the way. Any suggestions on how to do this without breaking the bank? Out of state fishing licences are expensive, and I'd hate to buy one for every state I go thru. How do you manage to enjoy fishing, and stay legal?

If you are not going to be in a state for very long, you can get a temporary license. Here in NC, you can get a 10 day nonresident for $10. Thats either inland or coastal (can't use one for both). But that's not a bad price. $1/day.

or you can get an annual non-resident for $30. Lots of residents on Gaston lake on the NC/VA border buy that to fish Gaston/Kerr instead of spending $37.00 on a VA license.
years back I was visiting Kin in MN and wanted to dabble a hook but an out of state temporary was extremely high for a few hours of fishing. I liked Missouri back when you could buy a license for specific days specified for $1.00 a day.

  • We make our plans to spend 2-3 months in one state to justify a fishing license.
  • Some of the National Parks don't require a license. Fishing pressure is high in some of those locations, though.
Single day or 3 day licenses are, of course, cheaper than a full license.
  • WE /I have found that a lot of state parks , you can fish w/out a licence IN THE PARK, most state parks have a different view, now Texas from the bank no permits are required. From a boat need one.

Check out the states you are going to be in on the net. Pretty simple really.
    Kentucky was 44 per year.
We usually stay for over 3 months in a state as hosts so it makes sense to me to get a permit.
But if I were just passing thru,,?? Ask the local sporting good store.
    Good luck and happy fishing.
