Fix needed for older antenas?

And I know you know this, but for the benefit of mdamerell, you also have zero control over multipath (reflections) from buildings, mountains, ducting through canyons, etc., that no amount of gain can fix, and often makes it worse.

An Omni-directional antenna on a boat is a completely different animal. Don't let the salesman fool you into believing they aren't.
