Full Timer Questons

We are planning on going full time. I have a safe in my house. not sure what to do with this safe. Is it feasible to mount a small Safe in the RV (5th Wheel). Besides banks, are there organizations that offer a safety deposit facility?
  • We have a soft expandable file folder which contains personal papers, vehicle titles, insurance papers, passports, etc. It is located in a location where we could snatch if and run out the door in an emergency, for example a severe storm approaching, fire, etc.

We are considering having a safety deposit box but since we are traveling a lot we just haven't decided on where would be the best location.
  • We have a small safe used to secure extra checkbooks, jewelry, cash, passports, titles, etc. It is attached to the trailer and would take allot of time to actually remove. It is also out of sight.
  • I put a cheap little safe in my motorhome, a Harbor Freight special. It's not fire resistant (and so comparatively lightweight), nor is it really that secure, but it should keep the kids out of the s'mores chocolate and so forth. So yes, I do think it is practical to install a safe if you think it needful/useful, depending on the size and weight.

Security, of course, depends as much on how the safe is attached to the RV as how secure the safe itself is. I also agree that keeping it out of sight of casual observers is a wise idea.
  • I agree with what already has been said about hiding places in most RV's. Plus, I don't know how big and heavy your safe is but I wouldn't want the extra weight nor would I want something that "screams" to anyone around that you have something valuable.
