To small? Someone with a triple slide Eagle Cap, Host, or Chalet might disagree with that. :). Compared to Class B's and many small Class C's many of the current larger truck campers have more space and much bigger tanks.
Given your budget those are probably out. I think you are going to have a lot of trouble finding good ground clearance in anything but an off-road pop-up or truck camper. They are out there but nominally pretty expensive, e.g. 4x4 Sportsmobile. Your best value if you need a lot of space is going to be one of the off road pop-ups.
