head sets

im back rickybobby here,,,,we would like to know if anyone has any info on headsets ....this is of course for backing up the beast from the east . also we dont kill one another screaming out ,,,,no turn the other way ,,, i much rather swear in private .
  • yes i know about cell phones but what about when there is no signal and the phone doesnt work ....
  • These are what the DW and I use. Both of us can talk at the same time without having to push any buttons or hold onto anything. Once in a while we have a little interference but never enough that we cannot use the headsets.

  • How about headsets plugged-in to a standard cordless home telephone system. Have the base station powered in the trailer and use the phone system's intercom. You can both speak at the same time.
  • We don't use headsets or radios, but might I suggest using your cell phones with the drivers put on speakerphone, (like USMC1968 suggested) you probably already have them so it will be one less thing to buy.

But, if you have kids (I forget if you do or not) you may want to pick-up some inexpensive handhelds like this two way radios It helps to keep up with them in the campgrounds. (age appropriate of course)

We use our iPhones also - the one in the truck has Bluetooth so it works hands free. In the few instances when we have not had cell service, we use an App called "Voxer" which lets the phones act like walkie-talkies over the built in WiFi

  • rickybobby,

As we have an antique motorhome with great huge windows aft, some times the driver will ask the navigator to walk aft and see that things are clear. I am guessing that would be tough for you.

If we need what can't be seen from inside, we get out the pair of little GMRS radios. A pair can be had for less than the price of a damaged tire (lots for <50$us). The navigator can talk while the driver listens.

Ours have VOX but we don't use them that way.
