Help, please...newbie towing with a 2011 Toyota Highlander

A coworker of mine tows a 2015 Coachman Clipper Ultra-Lite 17BH with a Highlander. They have two kids (7 or 8 years old) and he says the Highlander does fine with the trailer and a full vehicle. I believe he spent $11k on it 3 months ago.

The 17FQ would be more suited for someone traveling without children as well and weighs about the same with less of a hitch weight. It also has a 74" bed.
