Do not leave the pressure relief valve open when filling the tank. Hot water needs to expand and the little bit of air trapped in the top of the tank lets it expand without blowing the pressure relief valve. Your water pump will not be pumping the air in the top of the hot water tank. It draws from the inlet or fresh tank not from the lines to the faucets.
Add a bib and hose to the low point drain, open the sink faucets and water the lawn as you drain the RV.
Only need to drain hot water heater in freezing weather or when you get bad water.
