If you already own a truck and you can find a F/W that matches the trucks capabilities and suites your needs, the F/W is the easy decision.
If you are looking at used several year old Class A's your costs could be close to buying a proper towing vehicle and F/W.
Best advice I can offer is to set the amount you want to spend (remember there will be two purchases if not going with a motorhome style) and go to an RV show. The bigger the better. Walk in and out of every RV that will hold your family and meets your budget. One of them will jump out at you.
