When camping, we don't believe daily showers are necessary. Water conservation, however, is an absolute necessity! Many of the back-country campgrounds around here are "Pack It In, Pack It Out" areas. This means not only your trash, but your grey and black water. There is no dump station, no shower house, no hookups, nothing but a few vault toilets and water faucets. Dumping your blue tote in the vault toilet is often forbidden, as is running the grey water on the ground. Those who don't practice extreme water conservation often have very short camping trips!
Cleanliness can be maintained with half a gallon of warm water in the bathroom sink for a sponge bath. Baby wipes can also be used, but DO NOT drop them in the toilet! No matter what the label says, they are NOT flushable, and will NOT dissolve in the septic or sewer system! In fact, they pretty much last forever!
conserve water every way you can, and have fun.
