In 2014 we took our 24' C across the country for 2 months (May/June), 7,500+ miles from Tucson to Maine and 22 states in between. The first 5 days we covered 2,000 Interstate 40 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The next week we did 300 miles thoroughly exploring the Parkway, Shenandoah NP, DC, Annapolis etc. The point being sometimes you have to put the pedal down for a couple of days to get to an area you want to explore.
The weather, by in large, was good and other than dodging a couple of serious thunderstorms (possible tornados/hail), and we were able to relax and enjoy the ride. On our shorter, typically 3 week trips, we usually limit driving to about 6 hours (300 miles), a day starting and finishing early. This way even an overnight stop allows for some local exploration.
On all of our trips we never have an itinerary chiseled in stone. In fact we change plans more often than most folks change their socks. :B This is the beauty of traveling in a 24' C, we can go and will fit just about anywhere, all we have to do is turn the key. Works for us!
As always.... Opinions and YMMV.
