sit with proper posture, and adjust the steering column to fit you properly
you want to be steering using large muscles to control the wheel and not small muscle groups
if the steering wheel is to far away your using the wrong muscle groups to control the wheel,if its to close then again your using the wrong muscle groups to control the wheel. theres a happy medium in between those two scenarios
ask any professional driver, and they will tell you the same thing.
five years ago when i first started driving the semi i was sore all the time(already have a bad back and shoulders from 25 years as an auto tech)
but once i figured out the correct seat position for proper posture, the correct steering column position, now 11 hour days behind the wheel and i hardly even notice it(unless my arthritis in my hands and shoulders is flaring up)
a good seat with proper cushioning and lumbar support is a huge help also
Best advice yet,,
Id add this,,
exercise every day with weights to get stronger..
good long cardio workout helps too..
