Let me say if I was to buy something larger like 30ft, we would not be having this discussion, I'd buy a hard travel trailer in a second. I think most people are forgetting that I am buying a small 16-20ft trailer (probably 18ft based on the $$$$ amount I am willing to spend).
It's not that I made up my mind, rather, that on paper with the larger sleeping space, larger floor plan (because your beds are pop-outs), the Hybrid seems very attractive when purchasing a small trailer. I don't think these concerns come into play when considering a larger trailer.
Think about how cramp a 16-18ft enclosed travel trailer will be for 3-4 people. With a Hybrid, you take all sleeping space off the floor plan and put them into pop outs. This is beneficial for me because I get a larger floor plan and larger sleeping areas while still maintaining an 18ft overall length. Also, if the kid(s) want some privacy, then can go into the tent end and close the curtain, which they can not do in the bunks.
So yes, I guess I am leaning toward the Hybrid regardless of noise or set up time. Worst case I spend a couple years in it and after spending $10k, I lose a few thousand. It seems the smaller unit are so cheap, they don't depreciate that much.
Remember with a hybrid, the canvas has to be able to dry. If you go camping and it rains all weekend how are you going to dry out the canvas? If your available space will only fit that 18-23 feet, then the "extra space" with the flip outs isn't going to fit the space (meaning you can't open them to dry them out).
