x2 on the Good Sam thing.
As far as your trip goes, you need to decide on it. I wouldn't ask for recommendations on how to do it or if it can be done. As Paw Paw & Gram mentioned about some people can drvie 500-600 miles a day, I' ve done a cross country trip from Edwards AFB, CA to Augusta, GA which is roughly a 2300 mile trip. I did it in 3 days (700-800 miles a day) driving 11-12 hrs a day. I did this trip 3 times. twice from CA to GA and once from GA to CA. So people are different. Some like to drive and can drive further at a time than others. Some don't like driving at all and if they are in the car for more than an hour, they go stir crazy. You need to decide where you are at on that. You also need to decide if there are places along the way that you want to spend time in, for more than one night. You mentioned Yellowstone and the place in California. Any other places? Or do you want to just make a two destination trip? Once you figure that out and figure out how much you can or want to drive every day, then start figuring out where to stop. Then this a good place to ask for recommendations.
Good luck.
