We also have a Hobie with the Mirage Drive. Our is a two person kayak with a hard center section that you can actually stand on. It's designed for two adults with the Mirage Drive, a pedal system that allows you to pedal the boat and steer with a left hand controller. You can also paddle the boat as you normally would do with any kayak. With the front drive system removed, there is plenty of space for two children to sit. There is also some good storage in the front of the boat.
The pros, it's a great boat. The cons, it folds up into it's own bag (about 45" x 30" x 12", but weighs about 75 pounds. The bag has wheels, like luggage, there are wheels for the kayak so it can be rolled on the beach.
Lastly, it's expensive, about $2500.00.
