Yes, the aggressive and barking dog part unfortunately is the norm.
I cringe, every time we pull into a site where there is a dog next to us.
Half the time the dogs are great friendly pets, but the other half they are mean and we have to put up with their barking and threats every time we go into or out of our trailer.
