I understand why a dealer wouldn't clean and detail a used rig without a purchase. If I read it correctly, all the OP asked for was to have the rig plugged in a day ahead. Personally I'd prefer to look over a non detailed unit to see how it was cared for.
Often I have been asked for a deposit before all the details are worked out. I have never given any money up front. I also have never been refused as a customer because I did so. It is probably unreasonable to expect a dealer to spend his money prior to a possible sale just as it is unreasonable to expect a potential buyer to put his money up front. I just went through this on my very recent search for my used RV. I have a pretty good idea of who the OP was dealing with especially if they were either in Fife and Sumner, and they are sharks! Why make it easy for them to get more of your money?
