We were told Fishing Bridge is in an active area but Bridge Bay is not so they allow softside campers.
I'm going to echo a couple other posters that this is depending on the NP. Yosemite is strict that no food should be left in any camper or vehicle. At least one minivan per year is ripped apart by a bear. Food is only allowed in hard side cabins. I was surprised that Yellowstone allowed food in vehicles after my experiences in Yosemite. Always check and follow local rules.
