Maybe it's just me, but I am WAY more conservative in my driving when towing. Slower speed, drastically slower speed in high wind or rain, and lots more space between me and the traffic in front of me, and an attitude of "I get there when I get there" as opposed to watching the clock and taking more chances. I have to believe that next to having the proper tow vehicle/setup, this is the best way to avoid any avoidable incidents.
X2. (Knock on wood) I've never had an uncontrollable-sway, or other loss of control, accident. The closest was when I first started towing and was towing a PuP without WD/anti-sway. It started to sway badly, and I goosed the gas to pull it straight again (much to my wife's surprise), then slowed down.
