Getting to a destination I will often have reservations unless I know there will be spots. If no reservations I generally know where we will stop. I like the day of driving to actually end at a reasonable time. I do not like hunting for places and end up on the road an extra couple hours.
At a destination such as Yellowstone I will have reservations. Tent camping not such a big deal but with an RV there are only so many spots for a particular length.
On the way back we leave it open for discovering something new or staying an extra day if desired.
