Material question - fabric under trailer

We just purchased a travel trailer that leaks as a project. Under the trailer theres a black woven materiel on the bottom that almost seems like fiberglass without the resin. It's holding water and I'm not sure if I should put it back after fixing the leak. I'm leaning towards using marine plywood underneath instead.

Does anyone know what material this is?

Thanks

Mark

  • I suspect the plastic material is the insulative material that has a lot of thermal qualities. My Jayco had a heated underbelly using that plastic material. Doesn't look like much but it does a great job insulating. Not sure what the R value is but it is higher than you may think just looking at it.
