Metal tab on surge protector??

Stupid question: I just purchased the Progressive Industries SSP-30XL. There is a metal "figure 8" on the cord portion of the unit...what is the metal "figure 8" for?

It is shown on the second picture from the top...

  • wa8yxm,

They have changed the model numbers yet again. So it has evolved to EMS-PT30X.

First I recommend the HW or PT-30C over that low end model

The figure 8 is to hook to a chain with padlock to help discourage it from growing a pair of legs and walking off.

Send it back and get something that protects you from low voltage excursions which are endemic in Campgrounds during the summer. The EMS-PT30X

The figure of eight is for locking the protector to the power pedestal.
