I drive a Class A... now this is on a Workhorse Custom chassis so if I'm in a crash,, Well there are two types.
ONE: Me v/s SEMI,, Been nice knowing you.. But see notes below
Two: Me v/s Car.. odds are I'm going to be over the car and since I *DO* Believe in seat belts with only a very limited low speed exception (From campsite to dumpster to dump the trash and turn in campground pass on my way out of the park, buckle up before continuing out the gate and drive) odds are I'm walking away from the crash.
Now, If I were driving a truck.
I would be in a much worse place if I hit a car.
And depending on the size of the truck,,,, If I hit a semi as well.
I have sent troopers to investigate car or pickup/semi trailer crashes where the driver of the smaller vehicle clearly had a split personality.. The top half was over there and the bottom half jammed under the trailer. That (At least) is less likely to happen with the motor home.
How to choose:
I move every 1-2 weeks normally, longest I've sat in one place with this house since I went full time is a month, and that was by doctor's orders last fall when I checked into the hospital with heart problems (3 of them, doc did a good job of fixing 2 of them and 3rd is responding to long term treatment).
MOTOR_____ (any motor vehicle) needs to be driven, the worst thing for them to do is sit there like a bump in a parking spot. Tires, Engines, Transmission and many other moving parts need frequent exercise or they start to.. Well,,, RUST, or otherwise break down.
Trailers.. The tires are generally less expensive, But the "Moving parts" are packed in grease (Bearings) for the most part so it's not such a problem.
