Mold and mildew

Anyone know how to control mold and mildew in my 5er while it's stored at home between vacations? We live in west central Florida.
  • Not all dehumidifiers run hot and require emptying a moisture container.

I have used a Davis Air Dryr for many years. They work well when your rig is being stored.
  • Dehumidifiers exhaust hot air inside. It will keep the RV dry, but very hot. You will also have to empty a tank or drain into a sink and then empty a holding tank now and then. They are good for cool, damp climates.

We have 30amp hookup beside the house. We run the AC. It is set at 90. That way we can use the RV as a extra room or retreat or guest house. The cost to run either dehumidifier or AC seems to be close. No real advantage to putting up with the heat and draining.
  • Same as tvman. At 23ft we only need one but you may need two.

    This would be my suggestion
  • I leave 2 of my roof vents open at all times. Of course you need to have vent covers to do this! :W
  • It's the inside that I'm worried about. I have 2 Damp-Rid containers in there now. Wondered if I should leave a small fan, or the ceiling fan on.
  • We live in SW Fla. and never really had a mold problem. Yes you will get mold or mildew on the outside and in the window rails. It is humid and rains a lot down here. Wash the unit from time to time. You can also by a product called damp rid which draws out moisture. We never had a big issue on the inside as long as your rig does not leak.
  • I leave all my windows open a 1/4 inch. It allows the air to flow through and keep "things" from growing.
