    YES
Im in the midle of the woods and suprisingly havent seen many mosquitoes, but theres always plenty of black flies and other flying bugs to drive you nuts if you dont have window screens,,,
bug killing light or some burning incense that atracts and kills bug would be helpfull too
  • So far this year here in Nova Scotia it's been fairly cold, but also wet. I'm not a pro on the subject, but can tell you that the only warm days we've had that I was at the cottage the mosquitoes and the no-see-ems would have almost carried you away. I would be prepared and bring whatever Deet filled fluid you usually use.

If you are looking for ideas of things to see, let me know, I can pass along some ideas.

  • The worst mosquitoes that I have ever seen were on Assateague island in VA.. We were walking on the path to the lighthouse when a family came running the other direction, yelling "Watch out for the mosquitoes!" ... We sorta laughed and kept on walking. When we got there and poked around for awhile, we started getting bit. Huge buggers that wouldn't shake off.. It got so bad that we started running back on the path and yelled "Watch out for the mosquitoes!" to the next family. :)
  • When we lived in Tidewater Virginia, skeeters were a big problem. One story we heard was that a Virginia mosquito landed at Langley AFB and the ramp guys pumped 100 gallons of jet fuel in before they realised it wasn't an F-15.

I'm thinkin velcrow tabes glued on---but thinkin the tabs will not stick well to the screen.

Go to sewing/yard goods shop. By velcro. Sew this to your netting. Buy netting at camping store so you get mesh small enough to exclude No-Seums.

Consult auto body shop as well as other stores on type of adhesive. You want to glue the fuzzy side of velcro to your window borders and sew the coarse side to your mesh netting.

I've done it, but it's been awhile.

  • You bet your bottom $ you do. Every year, including the rather dry ones.

I expect it is especially important this year. You see there is a rather heavy problem for insect predators, the bats. White nose syndrome is raging through this continent. &

"The majority of food consumed by bats includes insects, fruits and flower nectar, vertebrates and blood. Almost three-fourths of the world's bats are insect eaters. Bats consume both aerial and ground-dwelling insects. Each bat is typically able to consume one-third of its body weight in insects each night, and several hundred insects in a few hours. This means a group of one thousand bats could eat four tons of insects each year. If bats were to become extinct, it has been calculated that the insect population would reach an alarmingly high number."

    From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bat

So, we all have more insects to put up with this year.
