My Perfect Trailer

Yes trailer, I'd rather pull than drive it.. My choice, maybe not yours.

18-20ft and light weight. Stay under 2000lbs dry.
If layout is correct, why go bigger? My time is mostly outside. That's big enough for me!

Layout: This is important. Door should be 1/3rd forward (or visa versa) as I step in, dinette (2 person is fine) on right and windows all around me. Forward should be the sink, range and frig (2 way lpg/110v) and microwave (optional), turning left bedroom. Queen at least (King Better), but (and important) has to be twins split with room for table between. Windows are are a must in this area as well. Interior toilet a must, shower can be exterior.

Has to be Solar ready. Rather it had Lithium Ion batteries, but I'll deal with Gel (no LA's).

Awning a must, whether mounted or removable.

My list of needs is short, but I'm having a tough time matching them.
Only found one so far.. $34K delivery next December..

I'm not against used mind ya. Just not to used.. I plan on using it for a while!

Suggestions?

  • Taylor Coach in Ontario will make whatever you want, but there's a 2 year wait. It's almost impossible to find anything that size and that lightweight. I have a hard time visualizing exactly what you want, but you might also look at Scamp.
  • You might want to post this in the Travel Trailer forum.
  • Most trailers will a front bed with steps on the passenger/curb side. That means you turn left to go to the bed area. To do it the way you are talking about, you will need a rear bed.

I haven't seen a floor plan with twin beds except an Oliver. It had a twin option with rear beds, and a front wet bath. Galley was on the same side as the door.

You might also look at teardrop trailers like the TAB line.

You are talking about the layout YOU want...but twin beds, which implies you have a travelling companion. Does that person have any thought on the floor plan? Someone who is unhappy with it will NOT be a happy camper.
