Ref Q 1) With the recent floods in Houston watch out for what looks like a great shape A or C that was flooded and has been moved away from the coast to be sold. Back in 74 I got a great deal on a Saab sedan in Denver, CO-it developed all kinds of mechanical issue-it had been submerged in a Mississippi flood the prior year.
Any Rv that has spent most of its life near the coast will need a very careful inspection vs one that spent most of the time in the deserts of AZ, NM or west TX.
BUT 5 years should be a sweet spot for value.
Ref Q 2, If I am traveling a lot I want a C if I am staying in one spot a lot I want a trailer. A Class A sort of fits both needs, but for me a Class C would be my choice if I am living alone.
Ref Q3, As mentioned above there are a lot free off road opportunities on BLM and State lands.
