Navigation software for a laptop...

I've used DeLorme Street Atlas with a GPS receiver for many years. Mine plugs into a USB port but a Bluetooth model is available.

X2 here. The navigator has the power to overide the stand alone GPS if for any reason a deviation is deemed necessary or planned contrary to what the stand alone GPS thinks.

Another vote for streets and trips.

We use Microsoft Street & Trip with GPS.

We've been using Delorme for 20 years. However, the driver doesn't go by it. It's used to plan the trip and so the passenger can follow along. The route is transferred to a Garmin GPS just to give the driver a heads up on turns, etc. The Garmin doesn't give the detail that Delorme gives. We typically don't travel interstates and we love the Delorme for all the small details and putting in the way WE want to go instead of programming A to B.
