Not sure why you would ask this question on a RV forum as we are all biased.
I am on the RV side. I was a military pilot for 24 years, and flew a lot for business in the 20 years since my military retirement. I now hate the experience. TSA, airport parking and the general movement by airlines to charge you for everything. I have also had hotel reservations and made to wait as i was to early for check in. In short, that type of travel is not relaxing to me- and as others have said - traveling out of a suitcase is no fun.
I have a 38 ft diesel class A and I love it. I have a job where I have to be in Yuma AZ twice a year for about 10 weeks in each stay. My home is in Tampa FL so I drive I-10 cross country about 4 times a year. Flying over this great country is nothing new to me as I have seen the view many times. Driving across is a treat. I meet some of the nicest people in RV parks for my one nite stays. I take my dog with me and we do an evening walk every day. I also am sort of a photography nut and take all of me gear with me.
My wife comes out to visit and we make some mini-vacations -all are on the spur of the moment actions. We have seen much, and enjoy the freedom RVing provides.
Hope this helps, and when you do buy your RV let us know!
