We have full-timed in our RV for 16 years and never stayed in a motel in all that time. Does that tell you that we absolutely love traveling in an RV? If you get a Class C or A there isn't much to "setting it up". You just park and you're there. You mentioned Alaska - one month isn't going to do it. You need to spend the whole summer traveling. Canada and the Yukon have wonderful things to see on your way there. You'd really be limited as to where you'd stay if you need an motel room. With an RV you just park it in a beautiful spot! It requires much less effort in planning (we don't typically do reservations). We also don't do interstates unless we really have to. The secondary roads offer a lot more exploring to do. If we come to a small town we like we park and explore the area before moving on. Keep in mind though that unless you get a very small RV - up to 28' or so, towing a car adds more enjoyment for siteseeing/parking issues. Eating out gets old fast. Having your own food, wine, etc. is enjoyable with occasional dining out trips. Even if you travel to Europe, letting the RV sit for a month or so isn't going to hurt it. RV? Definitely.
