Truth is. Longer trailers tow as easy as shorter trailer as long as they are setup correctly. You just have to swing wider in turns, and give them more room when passing. They do back easier than short trailers.
I hear that alot about longer trailers. I had to back up a 10' mesh utility once......very discouraging results!
A small single axle utility trailer is far worse than any double axle travel trailer.
To the original question, I would also support the idea of keeping the cost down on the first purchase. With no experience, odds are you won't buy your perfect trailer the first time anyway and there is probably a 30-40% chance you decide you don't like camping. A smaller used unit will cost you less money if you decide it's not for you.
